An internationally recognised certification of English language proficiency is required from all applicants, except for native speakers of English. Applicants must demonstrate this proficiency, which corresponds to the B2 language level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), by means of one of the following language certificates: 5.5 points or more in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); if both an IELTS score and a CEFR level are indicated, the higher language level will be recognised First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in English Language Skills (CELS), Vantage or Business English Certificate (BEC), Vantage Cambridge exam, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL, Cambridge University) 400 (listening), 385 (reading), 160 (speaking) and 150 (writing) points or more in the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) 72 points or more in the Test of English as a Foreign Language, Internet-based (TOEFL iBT) UNIcert® level II For further information, please check: https://www.uni-ulm.de/en/study/application-and-enrolment/masters-programmes/master-physics-englisch/ .

Academic Admission
1. a Bachelor's degree or at least an equivalent degree in physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology, quantum technology or aerospace engineering or in a related or subject-specific programme at the level of at least three years of study, evidenced either by a) an academic final examination with a Bachelor's degree with an overall grade of 2.7 or better, or if no degree has yet been awarded, b) previous study and examination achievements with an average grade of 2.7 or better, as well as 2. basic knowledge and competences, proven by at least 15 ECTS credits in mathematics (analysis, linear algebra, differential equations), at least 100 ECTS credits from the fields of physics and electrical engineering, 3. the ability to conduct independent scientific work, demonstrated in particular by a thesis or comparable achievement corresponding to 10 ECTS credits from a field in physics or electrical engineering, 4. in the case of applicants who have a higher education degree from a country that is not a member of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), a selection interview, and 5. adequate English language skills according to § 3 (2) of the applicable version of the Statutes on the required language skills for studying at Ulm University.
APS Certificate
An APS certificate is required for applicants who have completed their qualifying education in India, China, or Vietnam.
