International applicants can prove they possess sufficient knowledge of English by a school-leaving qualification from an English-speaking school qualifying for university entrance, by the completion of an undergraduate degree programme of at least 180 credit points in which the language of instruction and examination is English, or by obtaining one of the following certificates: FCE (First Certificate in English): grade A, B CAE (Certificate in Advanced English): grade A, B, C CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English): grade A, B, C IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System): band score 6.5 or superior TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Internet-based testing: min. 90 points (from max. 120) National applicants may also prove their knowledge of the English language by showing an average grade of at least 10 points in the subject English during the German "gymnasiale Oberstufe", with English being continued up until the point that the high school diploma has been awarded (average value of the last four semesters). For all applicants: The certificate proving knowledge of English must not have been obtained longer than two years prior to the start of the study programme.
