A minimum language proficiency level of B2 in English, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is required for admission. This corresponds to a minimum score of 72 on the TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) or a score of 543 on the TOEFL Institutional Testing Programme (ITP). Alternatively, an IELTS score of at least 5.5 is accepted. Equivalent qualifications also include a minimum score of 162 on the Cambridge English B2 First examination, or any of the higher-level certificates. Furthermore, by the time of graduation, all students must demonstrate proficiency in the German language at a minimum level of B1. To support this requirement, language courses are available through the university’s language department.

Academic Admission

The requirements for admission include a general/specialised higher education entrance qualification ("Allgemeine Hochschulreife", "Abitur" / "Fachgebundene Hochschulreife"), or a foreign equivalent. Application process Your application documents must pass through the official administration of our university, where our general requirements and your higher education entrance qualification are verified. All applications that meet the formal criteria will be ranked according to the average grade of the higher education entrance qualification. Based on this ranking, we invite selected candidates for an interview, either in person or by means of modern communication media. The interview will normally take place at Pforzheim University within four weeks of the closing date for applications. Applicants will be invited to the interview by the university by e-mail in good time. Relevant criteria are your motivation, social skills, self-presentation, English language skills and analytical thinking.

APS Certificate

An APS certificate is required for applicants who have completed their qualifying education in India, China, or Vietnam.
