Academic Admission

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and/or American Studies or a comparable degree from a recognized university. A first professional qualification with English/American Studies as a major, minor, or teaching subject is considered comparable, provided a clear and demonstrable focus on British and/or American literary studies is evident. For foreign teaching degrees, comparability will be assessed individually. Generally recognized comparable degrees include English Studies, American Studies, English or American Philology, English or American Literature, English or American Language, Literature and Culture, English Language, Literatures and Cultures, English and American Studies, English or American Literary Studies, European Literatures and Cultures, Modern English and American Literature, Anglophone Studies, Comparative Literature, General and Comparative Literature, and Cultural Studies, provided a clear academic connection to British and/or American literature can be demonstrated. International degree programmes in English or American literature, language, and culture from universities recognized in Germany may also be accepted if a strong focus on British and/or American literary studies is evident.

APS Certificate

An APS certificate is required for applicants who completed their qualifying education in India, China, or Vietnam.

IELTS Score
